Nov. 12, 2008

SAN DIEGO - The weekend will be busy for San Diego State athletics as it is set to play host to numerous events beginning on Friday, Nov. 14. On tap for Hall of Fame Weekend are games for football, men's and women's basketball and men's soccer.

The Aztec women's basketball team will open the jammed-packed weekend with its season opener on Friday. SDSU, which won its exhibition contest on Monday, will welcome Northwestern State to Cox Arena for a 7 p.m. PT tip. The game will mark just the second time in the last five years that the Aztecs have opened a season at home. Two days later, San Diego State will travel to Long Beach State for a 2 p.m. game on Sunday.

In addition to the women's basketball game, the Aztec Hall of Fame induction ceremony and reception will take place Friday night at the Aztec Athletics Center. Festivities get underway at 5:30 p.m. for the reception and will be followed by the induction ceremony at 7 p.m. Tickets for both the reception and induction are $25 and fans can still RSVP by calling (619) 594-6444.

On Saturday, the SDSU men's basketball squad will officially open its regular season at 1 p.m. against UC San Diego at Cox Arena. The Aztecs are coming off a dominating 92-63 exhibition contest win over Point Loma Nazarene on Tuesday night.

While the men's basketball team is tipping off, the San Diego State men's soccer team will be taking on UCLA at SDSU Sports Deck. First touch is scheduled for 1 p.m. The Aztecs enter the game having won three straight, including a 4-0 whitewash of Cal State Bakersfield last Sunday.

Following the men's basketball and men's soccer games, the SDSU football team will welcome No. 8/7 Utah to Qualcomm Stadium. The Utes come into the game unbeaten at 10-0 (6-0 Mountain West Conference) and kickoff is set for 5:06 p.m.
