PROVO, UTAH - Ben Saylor's two-run home in the bottom of the seventh overcame a one-run deficit to give Brigham Young a 6-5 win over San Diego State Saturday afternoon at Larry H. Miller Field in Provo, Utah. Saylor's game winning homer came off SDSU starter Ben Coon (4-1), who suffered his first defeat of the season in his first start since January 31. The loss dropped the Aztecs two games under the .500 mark (20-22) as they dropped to 9-4 in the Mountain West Conference.

BYU jumped out to a 3-0 lead after tallying three unearned runs in the bottom of the second. However, that lead was short-lived as SDSU came back with three of its own in the next inning on a bases-loaded walk to Rielly Embrey and a two-run single by Jake McLintock.

After the Cougars re-took the lead with a single marker in the fourth, the Aztecs again tied the game in the fifth when Jordan Swaydan's two-out single brought Brock Ungricht home from third base.

The visitors took their first lead of the afternoon in the top of the seventh and again it was Swaydan who brought home the run. His double to right center field allowed McLintock to score all the way from first base and five SDSU a 5-4 advantage.

That set the stage for Saylor's game-winning blast in the bottom of the same inning.

San Diego State threatened in the ninth, putting runners on first and second with no outs off BYU reliever Lance Beus before lefty Paul Jacinto came on toe get a fly ball to right and a double play to end the threat. Beus picked up the win to improve to 3-1 on the season while Jacinto recorded his first save of the year.

SDSU's Garrett Changnon, making a rare start at third base, led SDSU with three hits and scored a run while Ungricht and Swaydan had two hits and a pair of RBI each.

The Aztecs now return home for a string of seven straight contests at Tony Gwynn Stadium beginning with a league series against Utah that gets underway on Friday (April 23) at 6:00 p.m.
