Allen Named to Capital One Academic All-District 8 Team

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego State baseball junior outfielder Greg Allen has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 8 Men's Baseball Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The San Diego, Calif., native (Hilltop HS) is majoring in business management at SDSU and holds a cumulative grade-point average of 3.52. He was recently honored for the second consecutive year by being named an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Athlete by Diverse Issues in Higher Education, one of 12 collegiate baseball players nationwide (all divisions) to receive the honor.
Allen is two-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete honoree and member of the Mountain West All-Academic Team. He has also been an SDSU Scholar-Athlete award winner each of his six semesters as an Aztec.
On the field, Allen is hitting .311 with seven doubles, two triples, 17 RBI and 41 runs scored. In addition, his 22 stolen bases lead the Mountain West Conference
Allen is the first Aztec men's baseball student-athlete to receive all-district accolades since Rielly Embrey was honored in 2004.
The teams, which are selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances both on the field and in the classroom.
Allen now advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
