Aztecs Open Series vs. MWC Co-Leader Nevada Tonight

Bubba Derby will start tonight's series opener vs. UNLV.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego State baseball team opens a three-game series against conference co-leader UNLV this evening at 6:00 Tony Gwynn Stadium. This weekend's contests mark the final home games of the 2014 season for the Aztecs.

SDSU will send sophomore right-hander Bubba Derby (6-2, 2.38) to the mound where he will be opposed by Rebel junior right-hander John Richy (8-3, 2.97).

San Diego State enters the game with an overall record of 33-16 and 13-11 in Mountain West play, three games behind both UNLV and New Mexico and a game in back of Nevada.

The Aztecs offense continues to be led by third baseman Ty France (.367, 18 doubles, 37 RBI) and second baseman Tim Zier (.346, 12 doubles, 27 RBI). Catcher Brad Haynal leads the squad with 44 RBI and his 11 homers on the year top the Mountain West stats heading into the weekend.
