Aztecs Host Fresno State for Game Two of Weekend Series Tonight

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State and Fresno State will meet for game two of their weekend baseball series this evening at 6:00 p.m. PT at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
The Bulldogs got the series started with a 4-0 win over the Aztecs Thursday evening in which a pair of pitchers held the home side to just four hits. With the victory, FSU improve to 30-22 overall and 17-11 in the Mountain West as it closed to within two games of SDSU in the conference standings.
In last night's contest, two of San Diego State's four hits were recorded by designated hitter Andrew Martinez. Over the past five games, Martinez is hitting .476 (10-for-21) with five doubles, a home run, eight RBI and six runs scored.
Alan Trejo has been stellar both at the plate and on the mound in 2017. Over the last 21 games he is hitting .356 (31-for-87) with four doubles, a home run, 14 RBI and 20 runs scored. He is currently on a seven-game hitting streak. As a reliever, he has a record of 2-2 with one save and a 2.12 earned run average.
Senior Danny Sheehan saw a 17-game hitting streak come to an end on Tuesday (May 16) in the game vs. San Diego. During that streak, he went 30-for-64 (.469) with five doubles, a triple, four home runs, 21 RBI and 20 runs scored. Sheehan currently appears on the 75-player watch list for the Brooks Wallace Award presented to the nation's top shortstop.
San Diego State and Fresno State will conclude their weekend series on Saturday (May 20) with a game scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m. PT at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
That contest has been designated as Senior Day when the Aztec baseball program will honor eight players concluding their SDSU careers this season. Included in that number are three infielders and five pitchers. The infielders are shortstop Danny Sheehan, third baseman Andrew Brown and first baseman/DH Andrew Martinez. The pitchers include Brett Seeburger, Dominic Purpura, Marcus Reyes, Cody Thompson and CJ Saylor.
