High School

Loara won a pair of league titles during his prep years... Also lettered in track and field during his prep career... Graduated from the same high school that produced No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani.

Born March 13, 1981, in St. Joseph, Mich... Majoring in kinesiology (physical education)... Plans to enter the coaching field upon graduation... Brother Wes is a sophomore basketball player for Loyola Marymount... The two brothers went head-to-head last season when San Diego State posted a 79-69 victory on Jan. 3... Wes had five points, four rebounds and three assits in 17 minutes of action while Ben had two points while coming off the bench in the game's final minute... Currently has 139 credit hours (120 is the minimum needed to earn a bachelor's degree)... Enrolled in 18 units this fall and plans to take 19 in the spring which would give him 176 credits upon graduation (56 more than what is required)... Players consider him so much of a coach that they made up business cards with his name and an assistant coach title and also made him a nameplate outside a vacant office in the coaches suite... Enjoys jumping off cliffs into water... Suffered more than 50 bee stings when he stumbled upon a nest at age five... Also considered attending Long Beach State... Enjoys soccer... Wears jersey No. 32 because "that's the one they handed to me in the locker room"... The three words he uses to describe himself are relentless, relentless, relentless.
