USAFA, Colo. - Postgame quotes following No. 13/15 San Diego State's 79-72 victory at Air Force on Jan. 12, 2014.

San Diego State Head Coach Steve Fisher

"Anytime you get a win anywhere (in the Mountain West), you have to take a deep breath and be appreciative of that you got one. It doesn't matter if you're on the road here at Clune, or in San Diego at Viejas, the league is pretty well balanced. You have to find ways to win. It wasn't always pretty, but I thought our full court pressure was a huge piece to it ... our offensive rebounding was a great part of it, too. Air Force is a good team. When you make a defensive mistake, they make you pay. They did that to us tonight, but we did enough to get the win."

"We talked about the fact that this was a team victory ... and underlined team. We've got good people coming off the bench and we've utilized them. They've been good sometimes and okay sometimes. Tonight they were good, starting with our ability for Matt Shrigley to make shots. He had a huge run, where he made three or four threes for us to help us get some separation. So, when you play the way we would like to play ... that's 94 feet ... you better have the ability to substitute and rest people. We do and we did."

"(At halftime), I said as many shots as we missed and wide open threes that we missed, we were going to flip it around and make those in the second half. Had we made a few of them, we could have had a double-figure first half lead. You can't get frustrated when you miss a shot ... when you take good shots. We had a lot of good shots, that for whatever reason in the first half, did not go in. But they did go in the second."

Air Force Head Coach Dave Pilipovich

"Our effort was outstanding. Our execution at times was very sloppy especially against their press. We talked about it (press) that they were going to pressure 40 (minutes) and we needed to advance it and look up the floor, but we got a little hesitant especially at the beginning of the second half."

"We didn't finish the first half very well and didn't start the second half very well. Right in there is where they built their lead and maintained it to win the game."

"We played right there for 40 minutes against the 13th-ranked team in the country and lose by seven at home. We shoot 52 percent from the field which is a pretty good thing for us. We just didn't get to the free throw line enough."

"We have to build on this because of our short turnaround. We have the game on Wednesday with San Jose State then go to Colorado State on Saturday so it's a busy week for us."

"We got tentative against the press. We worked on it in practice but couldn't duplicate their length or athleticism in practice so I'm sure it was a little more in the game. We talked about running and catching the ball, coming to the ball and at times we had guys that ran away from it. That was the disappointing thing about it."

"We have not seen that kind of length and size. That team just played and won at Kansas last Sunday and won. They're a little bit more experienced than us. Coach Fisher's done an unbelievable job with that program. I respect him so much for where that program is and how well they represent our conference. That's a great team right there."
