BOISE, Idaho (AP) Chandler Hutchison sank seven 3-pointers and scored a program-record 44 points to lift Boise State to an 83-80 win over San Diego State on Saturday night.
Trailing by a point with under three minutes to play, Boise State (15-3, 5-1 Mountain West) got a 3-pointer from Justinian Jessup to edge back on top 77-75 before San Diego State tied it up again with a Matt Mitchell layup.
The Broncos then went 6 for 6 from the free-throw line over the final 1:38 to seal it, with Hutchison getting the final pair from the line with 14 seconds to go after Jalen McDaniels brought San Diego State (11-5, 3-2) to within a point, 81-80, on his fourth free throw of the game. San Diego State's final 3-point shot at the buzzer was no good.
Hutchison was 15 for 21 from the field, missing just three of his shots from 3-point range, and was 7 of 9 from the line. The 6-foot-7 senior's total scoring broke a 47-year record at Boise State for most points in a game.
Lexus Williams added 16 points for Boise State, which shot 55 percent and hit 14 of 28 from long range. Jessup finished with 10 points.
