San Diego State Head Coach Steve Fisher

Opening Statement:
"This year we've found a way to win. We've had guys like Matt (Shrigley) did tonight make important plays for us. You have to keep your belief that you're going to be successful. Keep your fight, keep your spirit. You can't dwell on a missed shot. You've got to play. We've done that with some consistency and I think that's why we've been successful."

On Xavier Thames:
"Xavier is a winner. He is a fierce competitor. Choir-boy look, but he can beat you. He wants to win desperately. He can play and he can make plays, both for himself and for others. He showed that again tonight."

On play of the bench:
"We've (played well) all year. We've talked about having the best depth since we've (the staff) been at San Diego State. We have to be able to utilize it strategically and not just when we get tired. We can come in with guys with different personalities and we've been doing that all year."

San Diego State Forward Matt Shrigley

On his play in the second half:
"I was able to get that first one to go in. From there the coaches have a little confidence in me after I make one shot to always give me a second one. My teammates got me the ball in good spots and I was able to knock it down. In the second half I was able to get open and they found me."

On what this win means:
"This is not an easy place to come to and get a win. This is a great arena with a great atmosphere for them."

On San Diego State's defensive intensity:
"I think they (UNLV) expected us to come out and press, try to get them to run up the floor. We've done that all year."

San Diego State Guard Xavier Thames

On how San Diego State is successful:
"Overall it's effort and attitude. That's what we talk about every day. The coaches preach those two things every time we come on the court."

On confidence level of team:
"The last three games we've been playing real well (on) offense and defense. (Confidence) is real high right now."

On difference in the game down the stretch:
"Just getting stops. We wanted to keep attacking the basket and get to the rim. (Shrigley) got hot, real hot in the second half. We just wanted to keep finding him in the second half and get him shots."

On Saturday's game with New Mexico:
"We have to come out and match their (New Mexico's) intensity. I'm sure we'll be ready. We'll have to get back in transition and do a good job of rebounding. We didn't do a good job of getting back in the first game."
