Jan. 13, 2014
SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's basketball team moved up another three spots to No. 10 in this week's AP Top 25 and four spots to No. 11 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, after winning two Mountain West games last week and extending its winning streak to 13 in a row.
No. 10/11 SDSU has its highest ranking in the AP Top 25 since March 14, 2011, when it was ranked No. 6. In addition, the Aztecs have matched their highest ranking in the coaches' poll since the final poll of the 2010-11 season, when they finished 34-3.
It's the 15th time San Diego State has been ranked in the top-10 of either poll, with each of the previous times coming in the 2010-11 season. The Aztecs (14-1, 3-0 MW) topped Boise State, 69-66, at home on Jan. 8, before earning a road victory over Air Force, 79-72, on Sunday.
SDSU, which is 22-3 all-time as an AP top-10 team, plays host to two MW foes this week. The Aztecs take on Fresno State on Wednesday, Jan. 15, before facing UNLV on Saturday, Jan. 18. Student tickets for the Fresno State game are still available, while students can pick up tickets for the UNLV game on Wednesday at 10 a.m. PT at the Viejas Arena ticket office. Students must present their valid Red ID to receive their tickets.
