San Diego State’s Mountain West schedule for the 2017-18 campaign has been released by the league. The Aztecs will open conference action at Wyoming on Dec. 27, and will close the slate with consecutive home games vs. Boise State on Feb. 28 and Nevada on March. 3

The 18-game schedule, which could have date shifts due to television assignments, features the 10 other MW members, but will only bring the Aztecs together with New Mexico and Utah State just once during the season. SDSU will not play host to the Lobos and will not visit the Aggies in Logan.

After San Diego State opens with the Wyoming in Laramie, it will welcome the aforementioned Aggies of Utah State on Dec. 30 to close out the calendar year.

Through the month of January and the first game of February, the Aztecs will switch off between road game and home game. SDSU will kick off the first month of the year with a Jan. 3 date at Colorado State and will not return to action until Jan. 10 when San José State makes the trip south. The Aztecs will look to defeat the Spartans for a sixth straight time at Viejas Arena.

The Mountain Time Zone-to-Pacific Time Zone trend continues the next two weeks when the schedule takes San Diego State to Boise State (Jan. 13) then back to Montezuma Mesa to face Fresno State (Jan. 17). After that, the Aztecs go to Albuquerque to face the Lobos on Jan. 20 and then come home to play host to Colorado State on Jan. 24.

San Diego State’s annual regular-season trip to Las Vegas is next up on the ledger as the Aztecs visit UNLV on Jan. 27. SDSU will be in search of its eighth straight win over the Runnin’ Rebels inside Thomas & Mack Center, a place it won at twice last year. A home game vs. Air Force on Feb. 3 completes four straight road-home groupings.

The regular season will conclude with four straight Wednesday-Saturday tandems (barring date switches due to TV) that will strictly be on the road or at home.

After the game vs. the Falcons, the Aztecs will travel to Fresno State (Feb. 7) and Nevada (Feb. 10) before retreating home to face Wyoming (Feb. 14), a team SDSU has defeated nine straight times at Viejas, and UNLV (Feb. 17). Road trips to Air Force (Feb. 21) and SJSU (Feb. 24) await San Diego State, which will then close out the season in the previously mentioned games vs. the Broncos and Wolf Pack.

The Mountain West Championship is pegged for Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas once again and will commence with first-round games on March 7. The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds will be contested on March 8 and 9, respectively, with the title game set for March 10.

Preceding SDSU’s Mountain West schedule will be its non-conference schedule. Although the slate is not finalized, the Aztecs have revealed some of their games over the last several months. San Diego State will participate in the three-game Wooden Legacy (Nov. 23-24, 26) that will feature two games on the campus of Cal State Fullerton and conclude inside Honda Center in Anaheim, and face Bradley and Gonzaga at home on Dec. 3 and 21, respectively. The balance of the non-league schedule, which will have a home game vs. California and a road trip to Arizona State, will be released at a later date.

San Diego State in 2017-18 is set to return three starters, including an all-conference backcourt of Trey Kell and Jeremy Hemsley, and five players overall (Montaque Gill-Caesar, Hemsley, Max Hoetzel, Kell, Malik Pope) who saw action in the starting lineup a year ago. The Aztecs also add Devin Watson to the roster after he sat out last season following his transfer from San Francisco where he averaged 20.3 points and 4.9 assists as a sophomore in 2015-16. In addition to Watson, SDSU will welcome four-star athletes Jalen McDaniels (redshirt freshman) and Jordan Schakel (true freshman), and three-star guard Adam Seiko (true freshman).
