SAN DIEGO -

2011 San Diego State Mountain West Schedule

San Diego State released the Mountain West Conference portion of its 2010-11 men's basketball schedule on Tuesday afternoon. The Aztecs will have 15 of their 16 league games featured on national television, including their Saturday, Feb. 26, home date vs. Brigham Young, which will air live nationally on CBS.

The BYU-SDSU game will represent the first time in Mountain West Conference history in which two league opponents have played one another in a nationally televised game on an over-the-air network (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC) in any sport. It will also mark the first time in league history in which any member institution has had a regular-season men's basketball game televised live nationally on an over-the-air network.

The defending MWC tournament champions will open conference play with three of their first four games on the road. SDSU heads to TCU (Jan. 5) for a 6:30 p.m. CT contest on The Mtn., and will stay on the road for a second straight game as it takes on Utah on Saturday, Jan. 8, a date which will be shown live on VERSUS at 2 p.m. MT.

After opening with two road games, San Diego State will play host to UNLV in its MWC home opener on Wednesday, Jan. 12. The 2010 MWC tournament championship game rematch is set for 7 p.m. PT and will be televised by CBS College Sports. The TV network will also televise the Aztecs' next game on Saturday, Jan. 15, when they travel to face the two-time defending regular-season Mountain West champs, New Mexico. The tilt with the Lobos is slated for 4 p.m. MT.

San Diego State returns to Viejas Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 19, when it welcomes Air Force. After a bye, SDSU packs its bags once again and this time travels to Brigham Young. The Aztecs and Cougars will battle on CBS College Sports with tip time set for 7 p.m. MT (Jan. 26).

SDSU will round out the first half of league action with games against Wyoming and Colorado State. The Aztecs will play host to the Cowboys on Saturday, Jan. 29, in a 7 p.m. PT game on The Mtn. San Diego State will then visit Moby Arena and the Rams on Wednesday, Feb. 2, in a game televised by CBS College Sports (7 p.m. MT). All told, the Scarlet and Black will play five of its first eight conference games on the road.

The second half of the league slate will be dominated by home games, beginning with TCU and Utah. The Horned Frogs will make their annual appearance on Montezuma Mesa on Saturday, Feb. 5, while the Runnin' Utes head to San Diego on Tuesday, Feb. 8. Both games will air live on The Mtn. at 7:30 p.m. PT.

The Aztecs will return to the scene of its 2010 MWC tournament crown on Saturday, Feb. 12, when they hit the Thomas & Mack Center floor to play UNLV. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. PT on CBS College Sports.

A pair of The Mtn. games follows its visit to Sin City as SDSU comes home to face New Mexico on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 7:30 p.m. PT. After taking on the Lobos inside Viejas, San Diego State and Air Force will clash at noon MT inside Clune Arena on Saturday, Feb. 19.

As previously noted, SDSU will play host to BYU on Saturday, Feb. 26, which will be aired nationally on CBS. Game time for the highly anticipated contest is scheduled for 11 a.m. PT.

After playing in front of a national audience, San Diego State will endure its final road test of the conference season on March 1. The Aztecs and Cowboys will duke it out on The Mtn. at 8 p.m. MT.

SDSU will put the final touches on the Mountain West campaign on Saturday, March 5, when CSU comes to town. The contest will be Senior Night on The Mesa with tip time slated for 7 p.m. PT.

The Aztecs return nine letterwinners from 2009-10, including all five starters. Kawhi Leonard leads the way for San Diego State and comes into the upcoming year ranked 18th nationally in career double-doubles. Also returning is senior Billy White (2010 MWC honorable mention), who enters the year as the nation's active leader in field-goal percentage, senior Malcolm Thomas (2010 all-MWC second team) and senior D.J. Gay (2010 MWC honorable mention).

SDSU enters the 2010-11 season fresh off one of its most successful efforts after winning the MWC tournament crown, advancing to the NCAA Tournament and compiling a 25-9 record. The Scarlet and Black have won 20 or more games and advanced to the postseason five consecutive seasons. San Diego State inches toward the `10-11 season with much anticipation as it is ranked No. 23 in Dick Vitale's preseason poll and No. 24 in Andy Katz's rankings. ESPN.com's Pat Forde and FoxSports.com's Jeff Goodman, meanwhile, have tabbed the Aztecs as one of their top teams heading into `10-11.

San Diego State men's basketball season tickets are currently on sale at GoAztecs.com and start at $99 for reserved chair back seats. For more information, please contact the Aztec Ticket Office at (619) 283-7378.
