Oct. 11, 2012

SAN DIEGO - SDSU tickets set aside for students for the Wooden Classic match-up featuring San Diego State and UCLA at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., will go on sale Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7 a.m. PT at the Viejas Arena box office. The game is set for Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. PT.

There are 1,000 tickets available for students, including 500 in the lower bowl section of Honda Center. Tickets are available at a special discounted rate of $15 for current San Diego State students who present their valid Red ID.

Aztec students can begin to line up at the Viejas Arena box office no earlier than 6 a.m. PT. Tickets are expected to go fast as SDSU has already 6,000 tickets to the general public.

Non-San Diego State students, however, who are interested in purchasing tickets to one of the top non-conference games of the year are encouraged to call the Aztec Ticket Office at 619-283-7378.

San Diego State and UCLA, which are both preseason top-15 teams, have met 21 previous times in a series that dates back to 1922. The schools, however, have not crossed paths since 1991. The Bruins have won eight straight in the series and own a 16-5 series lead. SDSU, however, has won nine straight vs. current Pac-12 Conference schools, including a 3-0 mark in 2011-12, and won 23 consecutive games vs. schools from California.

The Aztecs, who finished the 2011-12 campaign with a 26-8 record, are coming off their fourth straight season with at least 25 victories and their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. In each of the last seven years, the back-to-back Mountain West regular-season champions have won 20 or more games and have advanced to the postseason.

In 2012-13, San Diego State is slated to return four of its five starters and its top four scorers from last season. The Aztecs are also slated to welcome three Division I transfers and a heralded recruiting class.

SDSU will start its preparation for the 2012-13 season on Friday, Oct. 12, when they participate in Madness on the Mesa, which is set to take place inside Viejas Arena. The free event starts at 9 p.m. PT.
