Men’s Basketball Welcomes CS San Marcos on Monday

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State will play its final exhibition game on Monday when Cal State San Marcos visits Viejas Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m. PT. As of Sunday morning, a limited amount of tickets were available for purchase at GoAztecs.com.
The Aztecs played their first exhibition game on Thursday and defeated UC San Diego, 76-63. SDSU led by as many as 26 points in the second half and enjoyed a 20-point lead with 3:50 left before settling for the 13-point decision.
Sophomore newcomer Montaque Gill-Caesar led all players with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Classmate Zylan Cheatham, meanwhile, went for 15 points and six rebounds, and junior Trey Kell enjoyed an all-around game with 12 points, a game-high seven rebounds and five assists, and four steals. Sophomore Jeremy Hemsley, the fourth player to reach double-figures in scoring, added 11 points and four assists.
As for the Cougars, the game against its county neighbors to the south will be their first action of 2016-17 before opening the season in Irvine on Nov. 11 vs. Biola. A season ago, CSUSM, which is transitioning to Division II, went 15-12 in its CCAA debut.
After the exhibition, San Diego State will begin game-planning for its Nov. 11 season opener vs. crosstown foe San Diego. Tickets for the game are sold out, but fans can purchase verified tickets through Ticketmaster’s Ticket Exchange.
