SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's basketball team is ranked 17th in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 15 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, which were released on Monday. It marks the 17th straight week the Aztecs have appeared in the AP Top 25, which is the 11th-longest streak in the nation.

SDSU jumped six spots in both polls to become the highest ranked school in the Mountain West. The jump in the AP poll matches the largest since the Aztecs moved from No. 24 (Jan. 2) to 18th (Jan. 9) in the 2011-12 campaign. In the coaches poll, meanwhile, SDSU's move is the second largest behind the seven-spot jump from 25th (Jan. 2) to No. 18 (Jan. 9) a season ago.

Last Saturday, the Aztecs used 28 points and seven rebounds from Jamaal Franklin to earn a 78-69 victory over No. rv/24 UCLA in the John Wooden Classic. With the win, SDSU won its 26th consecutive game against a team from the state of California and ran its winning streak against Pac-12 teams to 11 in a row.

San Diego State returns to Viejas Arena this week to open a season-long four-game homestand, beginning with Texas Southern at 7 p.m. PT tonight. The contest will be broadcast by Time Warner Cable SportsNet and can also be heard on radio on AM 600 KOGO and 101 KGB. Following Monday's game, the Aztecs return to the hardwood on Thursday as they play host to UC Santa Barbara. The non-conference battle with the Gauchos is scheduled for a 7 p.m. PT start on Dec. 6 at Viejas Arena.
