#AztecMBB Nationally Ranked in Both Top-25 Polls
Dec. 9, 2013
SAN DIEGO - San Diego State finds itself ranked both major top-25 polls for the first time this season after making its 2013-14 debut in the USA Today Coaches Poll on Monday. The Aztecs are 24th in the coaches poll, but fell to No. 25 in the Associated Press rankings after appearing at No. 24 last week.
SDSU won its fifth and sixth games in a row last week to improve to 7-1 on the season. The Aztecs defeated cross-town foe San Diego on the road, 65-64, on Thursday before dismissing Washington at home, 70-63, to cap a string of five games in 11 days.
In the USA Today Coaches Poll, San Diego State picked up 30 extra points from last week to vault into the top 25 at No. 24, up from 28th last week. In the AP poll, the Aztecs tumbled just one spot from a week ago, but received nine more points (159).
San Diego State is the only school from California in the AP poll and is the only Mountain West member ranked in either top-25 poll.
SDSU will take the rest of this week off for final exams and will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 18, when it plays host to Southern Utah. Game time is set for 7 p.m. PT and will air locally on 4SD.
