Aztecs Top Toreros, 74-62
Chase Tapley scored 23 points and San Diego State rebounded from an early 12-point deficit to beat San Diego 74-62 on Wednesday night, the Aztecs' sixth straight victory in the crosstown rivalry.

San Diego State makes the turn in a four-game homestand on Saturday when USD makes the cross-town trip to Viejas Arena.

Game time is set for 7 p.m. PT and the contest will be broadcast by 4SD. The non-conference tilt can also be heard on radio on AM 600 KOGO and 101 KGB.

The Aztecs are looking to extend several significant winning streaks, including a seven-game overall win streak (13th-longest active win streak nationally), a 27-game win streak vs. teams from California (longest active win streak in the nation) and a 20-game December win streak (third-longest nationally).

SDSU continued to roll as it defeated UC Santa Barbara last Thursday night, 84-70, to pocket its seventh straight win. San Diego State received a lights-out performance from Chase Tapley, who finished with a game-high 23 points after connecting on 7-of-11 field-goal attempts, including a season-high six three-pointers. Four other Aztecs joined the senior guard in double figures as Jamaal Franklin turned in 14, JJ O'Brien added 12, Xavier Thames scored 11 and James Rahon poured in 10 off the bench. San Diego State led by as many as 27 points in the second half and was fueled, in part, by a 14-0 first-half run and six consecutive three-point field goals spanning both the first and second halves.

The Aztecs close their homestand on Tuesday when Point Loma Nazarene heads east for a 7 p.m. PT game.
