* SDSU is looking to stay perfect against UC Riverside having gone unbeaten in eight all-time meetings. In fact, the Aztecs are looking to improve to 4-0 on the season against Big West Conference competition. San Diego State has already defeated UC Davis and Long Beach State at home, and UC Santa Barbara on the road.

* With its 3-0 record against the Big West this season, San Diego State carries a nine-game winning streak over the league into the non-league contest. The Aztecs have also won 12 straight against Big West Conference schools at home and are 17-1 in their last 18 overall vs. the league.

* SDSU, which has won two straight, has had 11 days off since its last outing at cross-town foe San Diego. The Aztecs trailed by 12 in the first half, led by one at halftime, and eventually emerged with a 12-point victory. San Diego State had four players score in double figures led by Chase Tapley's game-high 23 points. DeShawn Stephens had his best game of his Aztec career with a personal-best 16 points (7-8 FG) and a career-high-tying nine rebounds. Xavier Thames added 11 points and a career-high 11 assists, while Jamaal Franklin chipped in with 11 points of his own off the bench.

* For the second straight week, San Diego State is knocking on the top-25 door. In the AP poll, San Diego State rose to 27th. In the Coaches' rankings, however, the Aztecs dropped one spot to 30th despite winning their only game of the week.
