Started all 14 games in 2016 at defensive tackle and has started 17 overall over his career at the spot, but logged his first nine starts at defensive end in 2017... Previously known as Eric Burrell, but legally changed his name to honor his father, who was shot and killed before he was born ... Enters 2018 as the starting defensive tackle.

Also was listed as “SDSU’s Key Player to a Successful Season” by Pete Fiutak of Campus Insiders ... Played in 12 games with nine starts at defensive end, making 39 tackles (24 solo), including 8.5 tackles for a loss of 45 yards, 3.5 sacks for 27 yards, two forced fumbles and four quarterback hurries ... Started the opener for the 15th straight game and 18th time overall, logging four tackles (three solo) and two tackles for loss ... Tied a then career high in both tackles (4) and TFL (2.0) with his four overall stops also tying for the most on the team ... All four stops came on rushing plays ...
