Physical linebacker who has become one of the leaders on defense ... Moved into the two-deep for the South Alabama game as a true freshman in 2015 with Jake Fely injured and stayed there for the rest of the season, before starting 13 of 14 games last year ... A good run stopper who is not afraid of contact ... Slated to start at one of the two outside linebacker spots in Rocky Long’s 3-3-5 defense heading into the 2017 season.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2016)
Played in all 14 games, starting 13 times ... Had 73 tackles (37 solo) to go along with three tackles for loss, an 8-yard sack, two interceptions for 20 yards and a touchdown, a pass breakup and five quarterback hurries ... The 73 tackles ranked second on the team ... Came up with a then-career-high five tackles (three solo) in his first career start against New Hampshire in the opener ... Had another good game off the bench against California, registering four tackles (two solo) and a 9-yard interception returned for a touchdown ... Played in 11 games on the season, making 11 tackles with one quarterback hurry ... Mainly was used on special teams, but gradually logged more snaps in the backfield toward the end of the season ... Was on the travel roster, but did not play in the first three games of the season against San Diego, at California and vs. South Alabama ... Logged his first appearance of his Division I career at Penn State on special teams without finding the stat sheet ... Played again vs. Fresno State, but did not record a stat ... Logged his first stat, making an assisted tackle at Hawai`i ... Logged significant snaps on defense at San José State with starter Jake Fely injured for the second half ... Had three tackles (two solo) in the contest ... Had a solo tackle against Utah State off the bench ... Came up with an assisted stop in time off the pine at Colorado State ... Made an assisted tackle against Wyoming ... Registered two stops (one solo) off the pine at UNLV ...
