Feb. 18, 2014
SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team has signed Julian Rochelin (Woodland Hills, Calif./El Camino Real HS) to a National Letter of Intent, Aztec head coach Rocky Long announced today. Coupled with the four student-athletes who enrolled at SDSU this semester and the 21 who signed NLI's on Feb. 5, Rochelin becomes the 26th member of the 2014 class
Rochelin (6-5, 215) played one season of football at El Camino Real High School, earning West Valley League Defensive Player-of-the-Year honors in 2013. A defensive end, Rochelin garnered Los Angeles all-city accolades after recording 114 tackles (59 solos), eight sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Rochelin also played power forward on El Camino Real High's basketball team, helping the Conquistadors to a pair of L.A. city championships. Rochelin chose San Diego State over Boise State, and also drew interest from Cincinnati, Duke, Memphis, Michigan State, Oregon and USC during the recruiting process, according to Rivals.com.
The Aztecs are coming off an 8-5 season (6-2 Mountain West) in 2013, which culminated in a 49-24 victory over Buffalo in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Dec. 21. It was SDSU's school-record fourth consecutive bowl game appearance.
San Diego State begins the 2014 season on Aug. 30 at home against Northern Arizona.
