Mountain West Names 30 Aztecs to Fall All-Academic Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A total of 30 San Diego State student-athletes from four different sports were named to the Mountain West all-academic team for the 2016 fall semester, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at SDSU while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
The Aztec football program, winners of two straight MW titles and champions of the 2016 Las Vegas Bowl, had the highest amount of San Diego State honorees on the all-academic squad with 10 selections, including seniors Daniel Brunskill, Arthur Flores and Kyle Kelley.
A total of nine women’s soccer players were recognized as well, along with six women’s cross country runners, including senior Christine Kent, who boasts the highest cumulative grade point average of the SDSU contingent with a 4.00 in nutritional sciences, followed by fellow teammate Lily Seynaeve at 3.90 in kinesiology.
In addition, the MW fall all-academic list featured five Aztec women’s volleyball competitors.
