Aztec Football Announces 2017 Promotional Schedule
April 19, 2017
SAN DIEGO -
San Diego State football has announced the promotional schedule for the 2017 season, kicking off with the 42nd annual KGB SkyShow following the Aztecs’ season opener on Sat., Sept. 2 versus UC Davis.
Kickoff for the SDSU and UC Davis game is set for 5:30 p.m. The KGB SkyShow, the largest fireworks show in the area, annually attracts one of the largest crowds of the season, including last year when 46,486 fans showed up to watch SDSU shut out New Hampshire, 31-0.
Tickets to the KGB SkyShow will be available for Aztec fans and KGB listeners on June 12 at 9 a.m. PT via an internet presale (view level only). Current San Diego State football season-ticket holders, meanwhile, can order additional single-game tickets, at all levels, on July 10 at 9 a.m. PT for the game. Single-game tickets at all levels for the general public to the Sept. 2 clash go on sale on July 17.
The game against the Aggies will also feature a San Diego State student tailgate and will serve as SDSU Faculty/Staff Day.
The newest inductees to the Aztec Hall of Fame will be honored at the Aztecs’ game against Stanford on Sat., Sept. 16. The game, which is slated for 7:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network, will honor first responders and the College Football Playoff Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers.
Following SDSU’s Mountain West opener at Air Force on Sat., Sept. 23, the Scarlet and Black will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month for the Northern Illinois game on Sat., Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
Following a road conference tilt at UNLV on Sat., Oct. 7, the Aztecs host their first Mountain West home game of the year against Boise State. The game versus the Broncos coincides with SDSU Family Weekend and will air on CBS Sports Network, starting at 7:30 p.m.
Homecoming will be the following week on Sat., Oct. 21 against Fresno State, again shown on CBS Sports Network at 7:30 p.m.
San Diego State’s regular season finale against New Mexico on Fri., Nov. 24 will be Senior Day and Fan Appreciation Day. The contest on Friday at 12:30 p.m. will broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
The Aztecs are coming off an 11-3 season, knocking off Wyoming, 27-24, in the MW Championship game and Houston, 34-10, in the Las Vegas Bowl, to finish with a No. 25 ranking in both the AP Top 25 poll and the Amway Coaches Poll. It is just the second time that SDSU has been ranked in the final AP poll in program history (also 1977). The 11 wins tied a school single-season record as San Diego State became the first team in program history with back-to-back 11-win campaigns.
