Football Announces Second Home-and-Home Series with UCLA
April 20, 2017
SAN DIEGO -
San Diego State and UCLA have agreed to a second home-and-home series in football beginning in 2023, the two schools announced today.
The Aztecs and Bruins, who in 2014 agreed to play each other in 2019 and 2020, will also meet on Sept. 23, 2023 in San Diego and on Sept. 12, 2026 at The Rose Bowl.
SDSU, which already had home-and-home games with Oregon State in 2013-14 and California in 2015-16, now has home-and-home slates scheduled with Pac-12 schools in 10 of the next 12 seasons. San Diego State is scheduled to play a series with Arizona State (2017 in Tempe, 2018 in San Diego), a home-and-home with Stanford (2017 in San Diego, 2018 in Stanford), a series with UCLA (2019 in Los Angeles, 2020 in San Diego), a home-and-home with Arizona (2021 in Tucson, 2022 in San Diego), a series with Utah (2021 in San Diego, 2022 in Salt Lake City), now another with UCLA (2023 in San Diego, 2026 in Los Angeles) and a second with ASU (2027 in Tempe, 2028 in San Diego).
The Aztecs currently do not have a non-conference game scheduled in 2024 or 2025.
The two teams last met on Sept. 5, 2009 in the season opener for both schools with the Bruins coming away with a 33-14 victory.
Last year, UCLA was 4-8 and 2-7 in Pac-12 play, snapping a streak of five consecutive bowl appearances.
The Aztecs are coming off an 11-3 season, knocking off Wyoming, 27-24, in the MW Championship game and Houston, 34-10, in the Las Vegas Bowl, to finish with a No. 25 ranking in both the AP Top 25 poll and the Amway Coaches Poll. It is just the second time that SDSU has been ranked in the final AP poll in program history (also 1977). The 11 wins tied a school single-season record as San Diego State became the first team in program history with back-to-back 11-win campaigns.
SDSU is accepting new account deposits on 2017 season tickets through the Aztec Ticket Office, while current season-ticket holders can also renew their tickets for the 2017 campaign. Fans can purchase tickets through GoAztecs.com, over the phone by calling (619) 283-7378, or by visiting Qualcomm Stadium's Window E between 9 a.m. PT and 5 p.m. PT.
