Football Releases Game Details for 2018 Opener at Stanford
May 31, 2018
SAN DIEGO -
San Diego State's 2018 opener on Friday, Aug. 31 at Stanford will be played at 6 p.m. PT on FS1, the two schools announced Thursday. Eleven of the Aztecs' 12 games will now be on television.
SDSU now has six games with start times, while five others slated for ESPN Networks (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3) are expected to be announced 12 days from the scheduled date. San Diego State's home opener against Sacramento State on Sept. 8 should be announced in the coming weeks.
The Aztecs defeated the then No. 19 Cardinal, 20-17, last year and has won three consecutive games against Pac-12 programs. Stanford was 9-5 last year, including a 7-2 mark in the Pac-12 North and a spot in the Pac-12 championship game.
SDSU finished 2017 with a 10-3 record, its school-record third consecutive season with at least 10 victories. San Diego State is one of just seven schools in the nation to win at least 10 games in three consecutive seasons (also Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Wisconsin). The Aztecs are scheduled to return seven starters on offense and seven on defense, along with their kicker and punter.
San Diego State is accepting new account deposits on 2018 season tickets through the Aztec Ticket Office, while current season-ticket holders can also renew their tickets for the 2018 campaign. Fans can purchase tickets through GoAztecs.com, over the phone by calling (619) 283-7378, or by visiting SDCCU Stadium's Window E between 9 a.m. PT and 5 p.m. PT.
