Sporting News Picks #AztecFB Second in MW West Division

SAN DIEGO - Sporting News predicted the San Diego State football team to finish second in the West Division of the Mountain West in 2013, and play in a bowl game for the fourth-consecutive year in its College Football Preview magazine.
Junior running back Adam Muema (Covina, Calif.) was tabbed as SDSU's Impact Player and a first-team all-conference selection on the offensive side of the ball for the Aztecs. Muema has also been named first-team all-MW by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele this summer, in addition to landing a spot on the Doak Walker and Maxwell Award Watch Lists.
Defensively, junior linebacker Jake Fely (Oceanside, Calif.) and senior safety Nat Berhe (Colton, Calif.) were first-team MW selections. Fely has already earned first-team MW honors from Phil Steele and Athlon Sports, in addition to being named to the Bednarik Award and Lombardi Award Preseason Watch Lists. Meanwhile, Berhe has also garnered first-team all-MW accolades from Phil Steele and Athlon Sports, along with landing on the Thorpe Award and Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch Lists.
San Diego State is predicted to play in the New Mexico Bowl at the conclusion of the 2013 season, and has the conference's second-rated incoming recruiting class, led by freshman tight end Darryl Richardson (Seffner, Fla.) and freshman linebacker Fred Melifonwu (San Diego, Calif.).
