COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State football junior punter Joel Alesi (El Cajon, Calif./Christian HS) has been named the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced today. It is the first career weekly MW honor for Alesi and the first by an Aztec this season.

Alesi ended up posting a net punt average of 46.5 yards, which was also a season-high mark.

For the season, Alesi has punted 22 times for 915 yards for a 41.6 avg., which ranks 53rd in the country. Out of his 22 punts, six have been inside the 20, five inside the 10 and two inside the 5.
