Nov. 26, 2012
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State sophomore football player Adam Muema (Covina, Calif./Charter Oak HS) has been named the Mountain West Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced today. Additionally, Muema was named a CFPA Running Back Performer of the Week.
Muema rushed for a career-high 255 yards and a career-best four touchdowns to lead the Aztecs to a come-from-behind 42-28 victory at Wyoming on Saturday. It was the seventh consecutive win for SDSU, which clinched a share of the Mountain West title, its first league crown since 1998.
Muema's 255 yards are the fourth most in a game in MW history, ninth most in a game in program history and 11th most in a game in the country this season. The 255 yards are the most by a San Diego State player since Larry Ned had 285 in 2001.
Muema became the ninth Aztec with two or more 200-yard rushing games. It was his sixth 100-yard rushing game this season (T-8th at SDSU) and seventh of his career (T-12th at SDSU).
Muema scored on runs of 6, 2, 34 and 82 yards. The four rushing touchdowns are tied for the fifth most in a game by a San Diego State player. He also caught two passes for 22 yards.
Muema helped SDSU gain 400 rushing yards for the game, the second-highest total in its Division I era (since 1969), seventh most overall and the most since recording 430 on Sept. 14, 1991 vs. Pacific.
On the season, Muema has 1,355 rushing yards (8th at SDSU) on 211 carries (6.4 avg.) for 16 rushing touchdowns (T-7th at SDSU). He ranks 17th in the country in rushing yards per game (112.92) and third among all sophomores.
Muema shared the Mountain West weekly award with Fresno State's Derek Carr and the CFPA Running Back Performer of the Week honor with Michigan State's Le'Veon Bell.
