Game Notes

* The Aztecs claimed their second straight Mountain West title, third in five seasons and the 21st crown in program history on Dec. 3 with a 27-24 victory at Wyoming. The victory snapped the Cowboys' seven-game home win streak.

* SDSU has won at least 10 games for a second consecutive season (first time since 1976-77), the sixth time in the Division I era and the ninth time in school history. Prior to last season, San Diego State went 37 seasons without recording a 10-win campaign.

* The Aztecs are looking to tie the school record for victories (11), which they have accomplished three times - 1966 (under Don Coryell as a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association), 1969 (under Coryell as a member of the Pacific Coast Athletic Association in SDSU's first year of Division I) and 2015 (under Rocky Long as a member of the Mountain West).

* Since the beginning of the 2015 campaign, San Diego State has won 21 games. That is the tied for the sixth-highest win total nationally during that span, trailing only Alabama (27), Clemson (26), Ohio State (23), Houston (22) and Western Kentucky (22). Other schools that have won 21 games during that span include Oklahoma, Stanford and Western Michigan.

* Among the 128 FBS schools, head coach Rocky Long is one of only 11 active coaches to lead their team to a bowl game in each of his first six seasons as a head coach. Of those 11 coaches, only six (including Long) are active streaks. Among G5 schools, only Troy Calhoun of Air Force led his team to a bowl game his first six seasons (his streak was broken in 2013 and is not active).

* To date, the Aztecs have had two student-athletes earn first-team All-America honors this season - Donnel Pumphrey (Sports Illustrated, Walter Camp) and Nico Siragusa (USA Today). This is the second time in the school's Division I era (since 1969) that SDSU has had multiple first-team All-Americans in the same season (also 1971). Prior to this year, the last time a SDSU player received first-team accolades was linebacker Kirk Morrison in 2003. The last player on the offensive side of the ball to earn that recognition was center Mike Malano in 1999.

* A Doak Walker finalist, Pumphrey continues to rank among the national (FBS) leaders this season. He is currently second in rushing yards (2,018), rushing yards per game (155.2), all purpose yards (2,229) and ninth in rushing touchdowns (16).

* A senior from Las Vegas, Pumphrey, is the active FBS career leader in rushing yards (6,290), all-purpose yards (7,374), rushing touchdowns (61), total touchdowns scored (66) and 100-yard rushing games (33). He is the only player in NCAA history with at least 5,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards.

* Pumphrey continues to climb the official NCAA career rushing chart. His 6,290 yards rushing currently places him second on that chart. He needs 108 yards to surpass Ron Dayne's (Wisconsin) career total of 6,397.
