Men's Golf Remains Tied For Ninth After Day Two In Hawaii

KAUA'I, Hawaii -
The San Diego State men's golf team remains tied for ninth place after the second round of the 54-hole St. Regis Princeville Warrior-Wave Invitational Tuesday in Kaua'i, Hawaii. The Aztecs trimmed one stroke off their day one total to card a 13-over 589 at the par-72, 7,233-yard St. Regis Princeville Resort Makai Golf Club.
SDSU sophomore Xander Schauffele made a dramatic jump from a 48th place to a tie for 21st with his 70, including one bogey and three birdies. Schauffele has a total of five birdies and one eagle for the tournament and is in an eight-way tie at 2-over 146.
While Schauffele moved up 27 spots in the second round, teammates Riccardo Michelini and Austin Kaiser went in the opposite direction, both dropping into 21st place. Michelini fell three spots after posting a 2-over 74 for a two-day total 146. Kaiser fell from 13th place after shooting a 3-over 75 on day two for a two-round total of 146.
Senior Tom Berry dropped two spots from 48th to a tie for the 50th spot. Berry's second day 3-over 75 brought his two-day total to 7-ver 151.
Also competing for San Diego State in its final fall outing, freshman Kevin Ko improved on his first day showing by one stroke, carding a 5-over 77 only to fall from 66th to a tie for 70th place with a two-day total score of 13-over 157.
The third and final round will begin on Wednesday at 8 a.m. HT.
