Oct. 25, 2011
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - San Diego State sophomore Miles Byass has been named the Bank of the West Pac-12 Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. It is the second career weekly award (also on Aug. 30, 2011) for the Highland, Calif., native and third by an Aztec this season (Jose Altamirano - Sept. 13).
A 2010 honorable mention all-conference pick, Byass scored SDSU's first goal in the team's 2-1 victory over 2010 NCAA semifinalist Michigan on Saturday. San Diego State's win over the Wolverines came just four days after UM defeated defending national champion and then No. 4 Akron, 1-0. The Aztecs are 3-1 against 2010 NCAA tournament teams this season.
Byass scored his goal on a game-high four shots (two on net) over 70 minutes.
For the season, Byass leads SDSU in points (15), assists (5), shots (50) and shots on goal (22), and is tied for the team lead in goals (5). He has 25 career points on 10 goals and five assists, all over his last 19 matches.
