Nov. 9, 2017

SAN DIEGO – Dallin Cutler of the San Diego State men’s soccer team was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team on Thursday morning. Cutler, a San Diego native and philosophy major with a 3.87 grade point average, is one of six Pac-12 student-athletes to be selected to the NCAA Division I – District 8 squad, which includes DI institutions from Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Canada.

The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances both athletically and in the classroom. The teams were voted on by sports information directors in the player’s respective district.

Heading into the final match of the season, Cutler leads the team in assists for the second consecutive season, having three helpers on the year. The Rancho Bernardo HS product has one goal on the season, and that goal lifted SDSU to an overtime 2-1 win over Vermont on Aug. 27 for the Aztecs’ first win of the 2017 campaign. Cutler has appeared in 16 of 18 games this season and is tied for second on the squad with 18 shots.

The award for Cutler comes one season after being named a 2016 Pac-12 All-Academic First Team selection. Cutler will now be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, where a first team, second team, and third team will be released on Thursday, Dec. 7.

The Aztecs conclude its 2017 campaign this Saturday, facing Pac-12 foe UCLA at the SDSU Sports Deck at 7 p.m. Cutler and his fellow five senior classmates will be honored pregame for the team’s annual Senior Day ceremony.
