Adams Named to USC All-Far West Region Team
Dec. 5, 2017
KANSAS CITY– San Diego State men’s soccer junior defender Kyle Adams was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Far West Region Third Team, the organization announced on Tuesday. Adams, an Auckland, New Zealand native, earned his third career United Soccer Coaches all-region honor, becoming just the fifth student-athlete in program history to earn the honor at least three times.
Adams anchored the 2017 backline, being the only Aztec to play all 1,732 minutes of action and becoming the first field player since Evyn Hewett in 2014 to play every minute of an entire season. The junior also added one goal on the season with his second career score coming in the fourth minute of a 1-0 win over Incarnate Word on Sept. 24.
The SDSU backline hit its stride with a 274:34 scoreless streak that lasted from Sept. 16 – Sept. 28, highlighted by Adams and goalkeeper Adam Allmaras being the only two Aztecs to play each minute of the season-long scoreless streak. Since Adams’ arrival on the Mesa prior to the 2015 season, the Aztecs have only allowed 1.15 goals per game.
Adams is one of 16 Pac-12 student-athletes honored on USC’s All-Far West first, second, or third team.
