RIVERSIDE - The No. 66 San Diego State Men's Tennis team lost to No. 2 USC, 4-0, Friday afternoon in the first day of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, which was moved to the Hampton Indoor Tennis Center in Riverside, Calif. due to rain.

SDSU sophomore Thorsten Bertsch split his first two sets in No. 2 singles play against No. 61 Eric Johnson, 3-6, 6-3, before the third set was suspended. The first set between sophomore Spencer Simon and USC's Max de Vroome at No. 5 singles was also suspended, while No. 123 Andranik Khachatryan didn't finish his matchup with USC's Michael Grant in the No. 6 slot.

USC earned the doubles point after Bertsch and junior Hunter Nicholas lost to De Vroome and Roberto Quiroz, 0-8, while junior Shiva Sangwan and Simon fell to Grant and Jonny Wang by a score of 3-8.

Nicholas lost to Quiroz, 4-6, 0-6, to begin singles play, and after No. 27 Emilio Gomez knocked off Aztecs senior Derek Siddiqui, 6-7, 2-6, junior Juan Florez lost to No. 121 Jonny Wang, 1-6, 5-7, as USC clinched the victory. It's the fourth-consecutive season the Aztecs have lost to the Trojans.

With the loss, SDSU will face No. 60 Georgia Tech on Saturday beginning at 3 p.m. PT. The Yellow Jackets lost a close match to No. 69 Fresno State, 3-4, earlier on Friday. SDSU last played Georgia Tech in 2009, when the Yellow Jackets won, 4-1.
