Aztec Men's Tennis Falls To Bulldogs On The Road

FRESNO, Calif. - San Diego State men's tennis came up short against the Fresno State Bulldogs on Friday evening at the Wathen Tennis Center. With the Aztecs dropping the doubles point they were forced to fight in singles action but were outpaced and only able to take one match, ultimately falling, 6-1.
Third doubles was the first to finish with Luis Rattenhuber and Jordan Colman falling to Tejesvi Veerepalli and Taylor Leiby, 8-0. Second to fall to the Bulldogs was Juan Gomez and Bartosz Golas to Rikus de Villers and Remi Boutillier, 8-4. In first doubles, Achim Ceban and Giovanni Vaglietti were the last to finish losing to No. 47 Mirko Zapletal and Rudolf Siwy, 8-6.
As singles action got started, SDSU was forced to come out fighting after dropping the doubles point. Sixth singles was the first match to finish with Andre Feliz falling to Siddharth Alapati, 6-3, 6-1. Gomez was the next to fall, dropping a decision to de Villers, 6-3, 6-2, in third singles. Also dropping a decision on the day was Tim Schulz van Endert, losing to Boutillier, 7-5, 6-3, in fifth singles. With the only win of the day, San Diego State sophomore Vaglietti was able to defeat Veerepalli, 6-1, 6-4, in fourth singles. In first singles, despite putting up a tough fight, Ceban was outperformed by No. 33 Siwy, 2-6, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (10-4). The last Aztec to fall was Golas in second singles, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (6), to Zapletal.
SDSU will stay in Fresno to face the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on Feb. 28 at noon PT.
