Men's Tennis Falls to No. 44 Memphis

SAN DIEGO - The No. 37 San Diego State Men's Tennis team lost to No. 44 Memphis, 4-1, in the third-place match of the SDSU/USD Invite on Saturday at Aztec Tennis Center.

The Aztecs (12-6, 2-0 MW) fell behind early, as Memphis' No. 1 and 2 teams earned victories to win the doubles point. SDSU's No. 1 duo of junior Hunter Nicholas and sophomore Thorsten Bertsch lost to Connor Glennon and Cedric De Zutter, 8-6, while the Aztecs' No. 2 unit of senior Derek Siddiqui and sophomore Andranik Khachatryan fell to David O'Hare and Joe Salisbury, 8-2.

After freshman Marvin Tawasi lost to Johnny Grimal, 6-1, 6-1, to begin singles play, No. 112 Bertsch, who has won five-consecutive singles matches, earned a victory over No. 105 Joe Salisbury, 6-3, 6-0, to pull SDSU within 2-1. However, Memphis' David O'Hare topped junior Juan Florez, 6-2, 6-2, and Glennon knocked off No. 74 Siddiqui, 6-3, 6-4, to clinch the match victory and a third-place finish for the Tigers.

The Aztecs return to action on Sunday, March 31, on the road against Mountain West rival No. 71 UNLV beginning at 11 a.m. PT.
