TULSA, Okla. – The San Diego State men’s tennis squad had two doubles teams compete in qualifying bracket of the Saint Francis Health Systems ITA All-American Championships Monday at Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the University of Tulsa campus.

Senior Santiago Cevallos (Queretaro, Mexico) joined forces with junior Sander Gjoels-Andersen for the first time this season, but after a tight battle in the opening set, the Aztec pairing succumbed to the Tulane combo of Tyler Schick and Luis Erlenbusch, 7-6(5), 6-2.

In addition, SDSU’s sophomore tandem of Joel Popov (Tampere, Finland) and Arnaud Restifo (Nice, France) squared off against another Green Wave tandem in 56th-ranked Constantin Schmitz and Ewan Moore, but came out on the short end of a 6-2, 6-2 score.

San Diego State will be back in action next weekend when it plays host to the annual Aztec Fall Invitational, Oct. 5-8, at Aztec Tennis Center.
