SAN DIEGO - The No. 53 San Diego State men's tennis team resumes Mountain West play on Sunday, Feb. 9, as the Aztecs hit the road to face Fresno State, beginning at noon PT.
SDSU (2-2) is already 1-0 in MW play after defeating Nevada, 4-3, on Jan. 18, and has won 10-straight regular season conference dual matches going back to the 2012 season. Junior Thorsten Bertsch (Mannheim, Germany), ranked No. 69 in the nation, has a 2-1 record this dual season in the No. 1 singles slot, and is 9-4 overall in 2013-14. Meanwhile, redshirt sophomore Freddy Gelbrich (Isernhagen, Germany) is 3-1 this dual season, and earned the Aztecs' only singles point in two matches during the ITA Kick-Off.
Fresno State is 2-3 this season heading into its home match against UC Irvine on Saturday. The Bulldogs are coming off a loss at No. 51 Oregon, 6-1, on Feb. 2, their second loss to the Ducks this dual season.
San Diego State won its last match against Fresno State, topping the Bulldogs, 4-2, on Feb. 8, 2013.
