SAN DIEGO - The No. 66 San Diego State Men's Tennis team looks to get back to its winning ways this weekend, as the Aztecs travel to Fresno, Calif., for a dual match against Fresno State on Friday at 2 p.m. PT, and against No. 22 Auburn on Saturday.
SDSU lost to No. 58 Cal Poly on the road last weekend, 6-1, dropping the Aztecs to 3-2 this season. Sophomore Thorsten Bertsch was a standout player against the Mustangs, claiming a victory in No. 2 singles against Poly's Marco Comuzzo, 7-6 (6), 6-2.
The Aztecs lost a close match to Fresno State last season, 4-3, at Aztec Tennis Center. Although SDSU won the doubles point in that meeting, the Bulldogs rallied to win four of the six singles points for the victory. Fresno State is 2-5 this season and has lost three-straight dual matches, including a 5-2 defeat at UC Irvine on Sunday.
Auburn is 5-1 this season and won at UAB on Sunday, 6-1. The Tigers doubles team of junior Daniel Cochrane and senior Andreas Mies is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation, while Mies is ranked No. 74 in singles.
