SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team resumes action this weekend in the Mission Valley Hilton Spring Invitational, which will be held at Barnes Tennis Center and San Diego Tennis and Racquet Club beginning on Thursday, March 20 against No. 32 Memphis.

The Aztecs take on the Tigers at 1 p.m. PT at Barnes Tennis Center, while SDSU will take on either No. 56 Princeton or No. 43 Drake on Friday also at Barnes, with first serve scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday's match will be held at San Diego Tennis and Racquet Club, beginning at 1 p.m.

Also competing in this week's tournament is No. 61 San Diego, No. 40 Purdue, No. 73 Denver as well as No. 28 Harvard.

San Diego State is coming off a split of two home matches last week, defeating Penn, 5-2, on March 12 before dropping its match to No. 10 Duke on March 13. Sophomore Freddy Gelbrich (Isernhagen, Germany) has won two of his last three matches, topping Penn's Jeremy Court, 6-3, 6-1, in No. 3 singles on Wednesday. Gelbrich is 7-6 in singles action this dual season, including a 6-6 mark in the No. 3 spot.

Meanwhile freshman Milen Ianakiev (Elz, Germany) has also won two of his last three singles matches, knocking off Penn's Marshall Sharp in three sets, 6-0, 2-6, 6-1. Ianakiev is 4-4 in dual play this season, with a perfect 3-0 mark in the No. 5 singles slot.

San Diego State dropped its match last season against Memphis, 4-1, in the same Mission Valley Spring Invitational at Aztec Tennis Center. The Tigers are 6-1 this season, coming off a road victory over Middle Tennessee State, 6-1, on March 9. Junior Connor Glennon is ranked No. 49 in the nation, while senior Joe Salisbury is ranked No. 94. In addition, the Tigers' doubles team of Salisbury and senior David O'Hare are ranked 9th in the country.
