Men's Tennis Visits No. 73 UNLV

SAN DIEGO - The No. 45 San Diego State Men's Tennis team resumes Mountain West play on the road on Sunday against rival No. 73 UNLV, beginning at 11 a.m. PT.
The Aztecs are coming off a fourth-place finish in last weekend's SDSU/USD Invite, defeating Oklahoma State, 4-1, before falling to No. 16 Harvard, 4-1, and No. 34 Memphis, 4-1. Sophomore Thorsten Bertsch finished the weekend 2-0 in singles action, including a victory over No. 105 Joe Salisbury of Memphis, 6-3, 6-0, on Saturday. Bertsch is now 12-3 this season in singles play and has won five-straight dual matches in the No. 2 singles slot.
Junior Hunter Nicholas has also been hot lately, winning his last three singles matches and is 11-5 overall in the No. 3 slot. In addition, the Aztecs No. 2 doubles team of senior Derek Siddiqui and sophomore Andranik Khachatryan is 9-4. As a team, the Aztecs are 4-6 against nationally-ranked opponents this dual season.
UNLV is 12-4 (1-0 MW) going into Saturday's match at No. 62 Cal Poly, and has won its last seven dual matches. The Rebels' No. 1 singles player, Ace Matias, has won six-straight singles matches and eight of his last nine. Last season, the Aztecs swept UNLV, 7-0, at Aztec Tennis Center on their way to a second-place MW regular-season finish.
