LAS VEGAS - The San Diego State men's tennis program, which owns a record-tying three Mountain West Conference championships and is the only program to advance to the semifinal round in all 10 league championships, begins play in the 2010 MWC Championship on Wednesday morning against Air Force in Las Vegas.

The Aztecs enter the event as the second-seed, after closing the season by winning seven of their final eight regular-season matches and nine of their last 11 matches. San Diego State is currently ranked 55th nationally, its highest ranking since January, the opening month of the dual season. Overall, San Diego State is 11-12, but ended conference play with a 5-1 record. The lone loss was a 4-3 defeat at Brigham Young on April 16th.

The Aztecs open conference tournament action against seventh-seeded Air Force. The Falcons are 10-12 overall and were 0-6 in league play. The Aztecs defeated the Falcons, 7-0, at the Aztec Tennis Center back on April 9.

San Diego State is 2-0 lifetime against Air Force in the MWC tournament, claiming quarterfinal victories in both 2003 and 2004.

San Diego State is the only Mountain West Conference school to advance to the semifinal round in every year of the men's tennis league championships. The Aztecs will look to extend that streak when the Falcons and Aztecs meet in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 10 a.m. PT.

Live scoring for the event is available at GoAztecs.com.
