UNLV 50, San Diego State 48
San Diego State Head Coach Jim Tomey
On the Result:
"It's disappointing to us. We're heartbroken, we didn't make the plays necessary to win the game. Conference is long; there are 13 more games, so we can't get hung up on this one. We prepared to beat UNLV and these kids did a great job throughout the week and they gave themselves every chance and every opportunity to win, but we came up a little short."
On Defending UNLV's Constance Jinks:
"She made three unbelievable jump shots against tremendous duress. That's a player who knows how to put the ball in the basket and we did a tremendous job in the first half of limiting her opportunities. She had tough looks that she scored on."
On Playing An NCAA Tournament Team Close:
"I'm encouraged and I believed in my heart that we were going to win the game. I really felt that we were prepared and ready to beat this team. I'm disappointed that we couldn't seal the deal or find a way to make it happen. We fought to hold them off and then came back - that's a tough loss."
San Diego State Senior Jamey Cox
On the Result:
"I'm disappointed in the loss, but very encouraged with the team's play. We prepared very well all week long and we had the talent to beat this team. It's just a matter of coming ready to play."
San Diego State Freshman Veronica Shaw
On Her Performance:
"It's not a matter of my result. Every night it's about going out there and playing to win."
