Jan. 17, 2011
SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior forward Jessika Bradley (Sacramento, Calif.) has been named the Mountain West Conference player of the week for leading the Aztecs to a pair of three-point victories over UNLV and New Mexico, the league office announced Monday. The award is the first of Bradley's career and first for SDSU this season.
Bradley averaged nearly a double-double last week, chipping in 10 points and nine rebounds vs. both the Lady Rebels and Lobos. She also averaged 3.5 assists and 5.0 blocks per outing, while shooting 50 percent from the field and 1.000 percent at the free-throw line.
In Las Vegas on Tuesday, the 6-3 forward contributed seven of the team's MWC record-tying 14 blocked shots. The seven rejections match her career high and tie for fifth in the league single-game record book. Bradley tallied three blocks against New Mexico on Saturday and now has 42 on the year to lead the Mountain West Conference. She has 17 in the first four league outings alone and enters this week 21st nationally in blocks per game (2.6).
Bradley and the rest of the Aztecs, who are currently 8-8 overall and 2-2 in MWC action, will play just one contest this week when they travel to the Air Force Academy Wednesday for a 7 p.m. MT/6 p.m. PT tip-off at Clune Arena.
