SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior Paris Johnson (San Diego, Calif.) has been named the Mountain West Conference co-Player of the Week for leading the Aztecs to a pair of victories against Utah and UNLV, the league office announced Monday. The award is the seventh of Johnson's career and her first of the season. She shares this week's honor with TCU's Starr Crawford.

Johnson combined to shoot a near-perfect 86.7 percent from the field in the two outings, making 13 of her 15 shots. She also averaged a double-double with 15.0 points and 10.5 rebounds a game and compiled eight blocked shots and three assists.

On Wednesday, Johnson helped SDSU to its first victory in Salt Lake City since 1995, posting 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while contributing four of the team's eight blocked shots. She was a perfect 3-for-3 from the field in the second half vs. the Utes, as the Aztecs rallied from a 10-point deficit over the final 17:53. With her first basket of the night, Johnson became just the third player in program history to reach the 1,500-career scoring mark.

Three days later, the 6-4 center was a perfect 8-for-8 from the field in helping SDSU to a season high in scoring in a 77-60 home win over UNLV. Johnson had her second consecutive double-double and sixth of the year with 18 points and 10 rebounds and also tallied four rejections for the second-straight outing. The senior contributed two assists and a steal against the Lady Rebels and has now made each of her last 11 field-goal attempts, moving her season shooting percentage from 52.2 to 54.3, which is third-best in the conference.

The San Diego High grad is the second Aztec to garner MWC weekly honors this season, joining classmate Jessika Bradley (Sacramento, Calif.), who was recognized on Jan. 17.

Johnson and the rest of the Aztecs, who are currently 10-13 overall and 4-7 in MWC action, will play their third road game in their last four contests on Tuesday when they travel to the University of New Mexico for a 5 p.m. PT tip-off. The game will be televised live on The Mtn.
