Aztecs Go For 4th-Straight Win Saturday vs. Air Force
Feb. 18, 2011
The Aztec women's basketball team looks to head into its final bye in the conference schedule by claiming its fourth consecutive victory, as San Diego State will try to avenge an earlier loss to Air Force on Saturday afternoon at Viejas Arena. The contest is slated to begin at 2 p.m. PST.
SDSU has had four days to prepare for this weekend's outing after winning at New Mexico for the third year in a row, downing the Lobos, 50-44, on Tuesday to sweep the season series. Combined with victories at Utah and vs. UNLV, the Aztecs have matched their longest win streak of the campaign and are continuing to build momentum as the MWC regular season heads into the final two weeks.
Air Force, meanwhile, continues to surprise. After defeating San Diego State in Colorado back on Jan. 19 (61-58), the Falcons have pulled off an upset at home vs. second-place TCU and are coming off a Wednesday evening victory over visiting UNLV. Air Force is currently 8-16 overall and 3-8 in league action, tying with New Mexico for seventh place in the conference standings.
SDSU, meanwhile, is tied for fifth place with Utah at 5-7 overall and is just a half game behind Colorado State (5-6), which plays at last-place UNLV on Saturday. The Aztecs will be looking for their fifth consecutive win over Air Force in San Diego and have claimed the previous four match-ups by an average margin of victory of over 30 points.
The team's second to last home game of the regular season will feature a live webcast with Chris Ello, as well as live stats, on goaztecs.com.
