-The Records: The Aztec women's basketball team opens the 2006 Mountain West Conference Championship Tuesday against Colorado State. SDSU will look for redemption after finishing the regular season with a 3-23 overall record, including a 0-16 mark in league action to earn the No. 9 seed at the tournament. The Aztecs play the No. 8 seed Colorado State Rams for the right to play top-seeded BYU in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

The Rams, who are 8-19 and 2-14 in MWC play, have won both of the earlier games between the two schools. The first match-up saw SDSU fall by just three points (68-65) in Fort Collins on Jan. 5, before a 13-point defeat (68-55) in San Diego on Feb. 4. This is the first all-time meeting between SDSU and CSU in the seven-year history of the MWC championships and is the third overall in conference tournaments.

-San Diego State Head Coach Beth Burns: Burns (Ohio Wesleyan, 1979) is in the first year of her second stint as head coach at San Diego State. She coached the Aztecs from 1989 to 1997 and has a school record of 154-106 in nine seasons. Her 14-year head coaching record stands at 235-171.

-Colorado State Head Coach Jen Warden: Warden is in her first season at Colorado State. She boasts a school record of 8-19 overall and a four-year career head coaching record of 37-78.

-Colorado State Series History: SDSU leads 17-13 all-time, but the series is tied at 1-1 in conference tournament games. This is the first meeting between the Aztecs and Rams at the MWC championships. (Last: CSU def. SDSU in San Diego, 68-55, on Feb. 4, 2006).
