SDSU Makes First MWC Championship Semifinal Appearance Friday Versus TCU

-TV/Radio/Live Stats: Friday's outing will be televised live on The Mtn. with Bill Doleman (play-by-play, Andrea Lloyd (color) and James Bates (sidelines) calling the action. The game will also be shown live locally on Channel 4 San Diego and on tape delay at 1 a.m. PT on CSTV. -The Records: The San Diego State women's basketball team (17-12) will make its first ever Mountain West Conference Championship semifinal appearance Friday when the Aztecs take on the TCU Lady Frogs (21-10) at 2:30 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center. SDSU, which is the No. 6 seed, is coming off an upset late Wednesday evening over the third-seeded Wyoming Cowgirls, 66-54, for its first-ever MWC tournament victory and fourth win in a row. TCU claimed the two earlier meetings between the two sides, and the Lady Frogs advanced into the semis with a 13-point win over Air Force on Wednesday. The winner of the semifinal will face the winner of the Colorado State-New Mexico semifinal for an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament on Saturday at 1 p.m.
-SDSU Head Coach Beth Burns: Burns (Ohio Wesleyan, 1979) is in the third year of her second stint as head coach at San Diego State. She led the Aztecs for eight seasons from 1989 to 1997, before returning in 2005. She has an overall head coaching record of 263-200 in 15 seasons, while she is 182-135 in her 10 previous campaigns at SDSU.
-TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie: Mittie is in ninth season with the Lady Frogs, boasting a current record of 194-94. His career mark is 345-153 in 16 campaigns.
-TCU Series History: TCU has won the last seven meetings, including all six since the Lady Frogs joined the MWC in 2006. TCU leads the all-time series at 8-2, but the teams have not faced each other on a neutral court. (Last: TCU def. SDSU, 75-54, in San Diego on Feb. 9, 2008).
