- The San Diego State women's basketball team will make its fourth postseason appearance in five years on Wednesday, March 20, when it plays host to UC Santa Barbara in the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) at Viejas Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m. PT.

The Aztecs (26-6, 15-1 MW), who tied the program record for wins in a single season, captured the Mountain West regular-season title for the second year in a row and posted the school's second-longest unbeaten streak with 17 consecutive victories. Meanwhile, the Gauchos finished fourth in the Big West Conference, logging a 16-16 overall record and an 11-7 mark in league play. The winner of Wednesday's contest will meet the victor of the Brigham Young-Idaho State clash in the second round with a date, time and location to be determined.

SDSU owns a 14-6 lead in the all-time series, but has not faced UCSB since a road tilt in Santa Barbara during the 1998-99 campaign.

The Aztecs' last trip to the WNIT occurred in 1989, when the Scarlet and Black defeated Radford and Murray State in the first two rounds, before falling to Oregon in the championship finals.

General admission tickets for all WNIT games at Viejas Arena are $10 and will go on sale Tuesday, March 19 at 9 a.m. Tickets may be purchased by logging on to www.goaztecs.com, by calling (619) 619-283-7378 or visiting the Aztec Ticket Office, Window E at Qualcomm Stadium.
