Women’s Basketball Names Paris Johnson Director of Player Personnel

SAN DIEGO – One of 20 1,000-point scorers in Aztec Women’s Basketball history, Paris Johnson has joined San Diego State women’s basketball as the team’s director of player personnel, head coach Stacie Terry announced.
“We are so excited for Paris to join our coaching staff,” Terry said. “Her professional experience combined with a tremendous knowledge of what it takes to be a student-athlete at San Diego State will be invaluable. She will be a great mentor to the team and her passion to continue the tradition of great basketball at SDSU will be instrumental in our success. Also, her ties to the local community as a graduate of San Diego High will be welcomed.”
In her role, Johnson will coordinate film exchange, edit game and practice film and develop team highlight videos. She will assist in the Aztecs’ recruiting efforts and oversee the team’s student managers. Additionally, Johnson will lend support to director of basketball operations Jon Silver in the planning and preparation of all women’s basketball events.
Before joining the Aztecs’ staff, Johnson served as the camp director at Skyhawks Sports Academy’s San Diego camp from May-August 2015, supervising coaching staffs and coordinating daily lessons.
Johnson, an Aztec letterwinner from 2008-11, scored 1,598 points over her four-year career. San Diego State’s career (267) and single season (94, 2009) blocks record holder, she garnered all-Mountain West honors each season she donned the Scarlet and Black. She also helped San Diego State to its first Mountain West tournament championship in 2010, a team that advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.
After graduating with her bachelor’s degree in social science, Johnson, a San Diego native, played overseas in Poland (Gorzow, 2011-12; Gdynia, 2015-16), Spain (Zamora, 2012-13), Australia (Brisbane and Sydney, 2014-15), the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
